Girl, 8, wounded in Hanover Park shooting

An 8-year-old girl was caught in crossfire and shot in the hip in Surwood Walk, Hanover Park, at about 8pm on Sunday, say police.

The child was taken to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital where she is in a stable condition.

It is not clear whether the shooting was gang related and no arrests have been made, said Philippi police spokesman Captain Lance Goliath.

Police are investigating an attempted murder case.
