Alana Williams, Michelle Yi-Tin Yuan, Angela Strydom and Bradley Thompson were among the UCT fourth-year medical students who held an HIV-awareness campaign at the Vanguard Maternity and Obstetrics Unit and designed a stamp for babies’ clinic cards that encourages mothers to get themselves and their children tested to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. “By doing this project, we hope to empower women to take charge of their own health, their sexuality and help them during their transition into motherhood,” Alana said.
