Angus McKenzie, Bonteheuwel (Ward 50) ward councillor
I am encouraged by the increased pass rate of Bonteheuwel’s high schools in the 2019 matric examination.
These results are testament to a huge effort from the positive people in Bonteheuwel that has resulted in 2019 being a spectacular year for the area. It also shows that our various interventions have ensured our learners are focused and not sidetracked in their efforts to achieve the best.
The law enforcement neighbourhood safety team, a functional walking bus, proactive neighbourhood watch and school resources officers have given learners the opportunity to create history in Bonteheuwel.
In 2018 schools in Bonteheuwel (Ward 50) had a pass rate of 59.4% and in 2019 that number has catapulted to 66.2%.
To the parents and teachers, we are on the upward track and thank you. To learners, thank you for putting yourselves and Bonteheuwel first.
We will continue on the upward trajectory we are on in Bonteheuwel. We will work harder and give second chances to those who seek them but we will never go backwards again.
