Police are investigating after two men were shot dead in Silvertown on Wednesday September 29.
The bodies of the men, aged 33 and 54, were found at a Durant Road house, at 7.20pm, according to Athlone police spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman.
One had been shot in the throat, chin and upper arm. The other had been shot in the right side of his waist and behind his head.
Police say it is unclear whether the shootings are gang related.
Witnesses told the police that the men had been standing in the driveway when two gunmen got out of a white Ford Bantam bakkie and opened fire, killing them, before jumping back into the vehicle and speeding off towards Vangate Mall.
• Four men robbed a man in his Pearl Crescent home, in Belgravia, on Saturday September 25, at 5pm, say police.
One of the men was known to the robbery victim and was later arrested, according to Sergeant Norman.
Police say a shot was fired into the ground when the victim tried to resist being searched by the men who took his Samsung cellphone and R2500 and threatened to kill him if he reported the crime.
• Seven men robbed a 40-year-old man on the corner of Doring and College roads in Rylands, on Saturday September 25, at 4.45pm.
Police say one of the men pointed a gun at the man and told him to empty his pockets. The muggers took the man’s Nokia cellphone and a wallet holding cash and bank cards.
The man broke free and ran home before the men could take his watch.
